Yesterday I met a friend in Cambridge for the afternoon. I love going back there because I went to boarding school there during my Sixth Form years, so it's a place that's close to my heart...not just because the shopping centre is pretty darn great...promise!
Lured in by the huge 'SALE' signs adorning the Topshop window displays, I decided to take a look even though I'm supposed to be saving for travelling (see this post to hear about my trip) *slaps self on wrists*.
I picked out a 'Tee and Cake' t-shirt I actually nearly bought when it was full price, so I'm glad I waited because I picked up this fun penguin design for just £10. I think it'll be great teamed with denim shorts or jeans!
I also couldn't resist this dress...even though it wasn't on the sale rails *gasp*. Although, at £30 I didn't think I'd be breaking the bank too much as I think it could be easily dressed up or down by wearing converse or heels, or with the addition of some statement jewellery and accessories. Also, I thought it was actually quite flattering for a bodycon style dress (probably because the dark navy side panels offset the horizontal stripes), it didn't highlight my lumps and bumps like I expected it to...I hope you agree!

Please excuse the messy changing room selfie!! |
Naturally once I'd opened my purse once it didn't shut again quite so easily. I ended up in Boots for 'that one thing' (this time it was the Simple Eye Makeup Corrector Pen - a god send if you ask me!), but came out with three, which isn't actually that bad considering my track record (oops).
After much deliberation, I bought the L'Oréal Casting Sunkiss Jelly. After seeing great results on my friend Kate, I thought I'd buy it and give it a try myself. I bought shade 01, the 'light brown to dark blonde' version. After a pretty dull winter and spring weather-wise, my hair has lost a lot of its natural highlights so I'm hoping I'll be able to use this to coax them out of hibernation! I'll report back once I've been brave enough to try it out!
I also emerged from the shop with 'Lime Basil', one of the Revlon Parfumerie Nail Polishes, from the new 'fruit and floral' summer collection. I'd read good things about these polishes on Really Ree's blog (which you can read here) so I wasn't as hesitant to part with my £6.49 as I might have been! I completely agree with her, it's a beautiful colour and the pigmentation and formula of the polish is great, giving good coverage after only one coat and not taking too long to dry.
Having only picked the polish up because I was attracted to the lovely colour, I wasn't particularly bothered by the scented aspect it offered. However, as the perfume quality of the nail polish is its USP, I had better comment on it. For me, it's not the best smell in the world. Having said that, it's worlds better than the strong smell of nail polish in general. It does smell like 'lime basil' but I feel that it's a scent that would be more suited to a cleaning product, it's that kind of fresh, washing up liquid type smell. However, scent is completely personal taste and some people may love it. I've heard that the other polishes in the collection boast some amazing scents too.
