Onwards! Moving Out & Summer Wanderlust

Peek-a-boo! It's me again!

So this is gonna be a little bit of a chatty life update - I love reading this kind of post, mainly because I am shamelessly nosy, so I thought I'd do one myself!

University

Last week I moved out of my uni house in Cardiff, a 12 bed (yes, 12!!!!) that I shared with friends I'd met during my first year of university. I'd be lying if I said it went completely smoothly.

At the start, living in that house was awesome (once you got past how grubby it was when we moved in - student landlords are crooks kids, avoid the company H****on at all costs if you're looking for student housing in Cardiff), it was like a summer camp where you could just chill with loads of your friends all the time under the same roof.

That was until everyone's mess started piling up & before you knew it there was nowhere to sit/eat/cook without moving a pile of stuff before hand - not ideal. I'm a bit of a clean freak so leaving my cosy haven of a bedroom and going into the communal areas led to alarm bells going off in my head wherever I looked *shivers*. I'm fairly sure we cultivated several new species of mould that my friends studying microbiology would have been interested in...gross.

After it had just been cleaned...those were the days...
So yeah, although I was sad to be leaving my lovely room and my friends, I wasn't particularly upset to leave that hell hole behind. I packed up my several cars worth of stuff and waved goodbye to number 30.

In September I'll be moving into a newly renovated 6 bed house with 5 of my friends (it's not finished yet but let's just brush that'll little fact under the carpet), which I think will be much easier to handle (she says hopefully). It's supposedly gonna look something like the pictures below - EXCITING!

Wanderlust

So that's enough about houses and boring real world adult stuff - in other news, I am going travelling in two weeks - EEK! My friend Jack & I will be travelling around Hong Kong and Indonesia for 6 whole weeks and I'm stupidly excited yet overwhelmingly terrified (insert appropriate emoji here). I'm hoping to write blog posts all about my trip whilst I'm away but it depends on how forthcoming the internet is in South East Asia...

We'll be starting in Hong Kong, staying there for nine days with the family of one of my oldest friends, which should be great! Then we'll be moving on to Java for a few weeks and then for the last two and bit weeks we'll be in Bali, yes BALI, the island of dreams I've always wanted to visit.

So that's why I'm excited.

The reason I'm scared is that as well as being a clean freak like I mentioned before, I'm super organised and like to know where I'm going to be and when. I've been reliably informed that I'm supposed to just go with the flow when travelling so that I get to see all of the best places on the advice of locals and other travellers, rather than following a prescriptive itinerary. So I've thrown my planning skills out of the window and I'm hoping this is going to be the holiday of a lifetime.

Although I have bought a sneaky Lonely Planet travel guide...or two...oops!

They're definitely not sitting next to a packet of highlighters and post-it notes right now...

I've also bought myself a new rucksack - I went for the medium sized North Face Base Camp Duffel in "Azalea Pink and Fire Brick Red" (which I ordered from here). I originally ordered the awesome multi-coloured "Storm Blue and Cone Orange" one but there was a stock discrepancy so I chose the pink instead. It's still pretty! I'll probably do a review on the bag and it's suitability for my trip on my return in August.

So that's what's going on with me this summer. In the last few weeks since I've finished my uni exams, I've been trying to catch up with friends from home and spend some time with my family and my boyfriend before I set off for the summer.

Just today I went to Pots of Art with my friend Yasmin and painted a plate. I had so much fun reliving my childhood and getting covered in paint. Here's the result - it's definitely a lot better than my creation the last time I went (when I was about 13)...maybe I'm finally developing some artistic talent at the age of 20...

Hopefully that was interesting and you actually managed to get to the end of this post...if so...thank you so much for reading, you poor soul you, I will get better at this blog malarkey soon...I hope!

Until next time!

  1. That bag is going to get slashed...

    Solutions:
    1. Put chicken wire inside of it

    2. Put it inside a rice bag
