I know, I know, it's been ages since I last posted (again!). I really need to get better at this whole blogging malarkey...but whilst I've been away from the "blogosphere" I've been doing plenty of cool stuff to share with you all...honest! Prepare yourselves for a mouth watering read and only continue reading if you're prepared to suddenly feel rather hungry...like this little fella...
At the beginning of November I was trawling through my Facebook news feed (probably avoiding uni work of some kind - such a top student...errrr...) when I stumbled across a Wales Online article about the wonder that is Street Food Cardiff.
You can find SFC at The Depot on Dumballs Road (not exactly the nicest area of Cardiff) on Friday and Saturday nights (18:00-23:00) up until Christmas.
It launched on 31st October and has been enormously successful every weekend since. I went for the first time on Friday 21st November and liked it so much that I went back the following Saturday with other friends...it's that good!
Basically, what you'll find at The Depot is similar to what you might expect to discover somewhere in Shoreditch...I mean that in the best way possible! It is an indoor street food market located in an unused warehouse that has been dressed up to the nines in a, I hate to say it, very "hipster" fashion.
There's no actual address for this pop up market but it seems to be one of "the" places to be seen in Cardiff at the moment...and with good reason too! The atmosphere is fab and so is the food!
- Dirty Bird (buttermilk fried chicken...and a rather interesting logo!)
- Haute Dogs (hot dogs...with class...oh and coca-cola fried onions topped with popping candy...err...yeah...)
- Jols Food (a fancy twist on traditional food)
- Doughboys (wood-fired pizzas)
- El Salsa (Mexican goodness)
- Brûlée Bar (different toppings on crème brûlée...yum!)
- Meet and Greek(great Greek food - think souvlaki and halloumi!)
- Chucks (great burgers on brioche buns!)
- Burger and Lobster(lobster rolls)
- Hang Fire Smokehouse (the best bbq meat)
- Bangkok Café (traditional Thai food)
- Mr Churro (cinnamon sugar churros in a pot of melted chocolate)
On my second visit I stuck to savoury and had some chilli chicken topped nachos from El Salsa and then grabbed a mojito from the cocktail bar...guess I was going for a bit of a Mexican theme that night!
Needless to say, we were rather full of great food by the end of those evenings and in desperate need of a brisk walk...or two!

My lovely cousin and I! |
FYI, you will have to queue to get in but it goes down really quickly (people just take ages to find £2 in their wallets!!).
You can find out more...well, not really (they like to be a bit secretive...), on their website www.streetfoodcardiff.com .
Bon appétit!
Thanks for reading!
